The McKenzie Method © is all about developing a plan that is tailored specifically to help you and your symptoms. It involves a 3-step process of assessment, treatment and prevention.
Your therapist will carry out a comprehensive assessment to evaluate your problem. A detailed history will be taken and you will be asked to perform certain movements so that your therapist can assess any symptom changes (ie. increase or decrease in pain).
Based on the findings from your assessment your Physiotherapist will then prescribe a series of customized exercises for you to perform. You will be actively involved in self-managing your symptoms.
Prevention is the key.
Once you know how to self manage, you can help prevent or minimize a repeat occurrence of your problem in the future by adopting the methods you have been taught to manage your pain. Exercise and fitness advice is often an important component of our treatment plan. We will tailor a program to suit your needs and lifestyle.
